About Me

I have a background in Biology, Zoology, Ecology, and an applied professional interest in anatomy, physiology, and musculoskeletal therapies and rehabilitation. My creative focus over some recent years has also been inspired by these fascinating areas of study, the 3D works being a meditation for me as I make them. I make smallish contemporary ceramic and mixed media sculptures, all formed individually, by hand and intuitively - many are quirky, I think that some are humorous, but all develop with empathy. I hope that they can resonate with other people who share a love and respect for the living world (technically called Biophilia). I hope that they may spark or encourage more widely a respectful curiosity towards both other beings and the biology of ourselves, human creatures, as we increasingly and thoughtlessly cut ourselves off from our origin in nature. It is a tiny contribution, but you have to hope that with more empathy, grounded in perspective, mindful knowledge, and an awareness of all the things we do not know, we humans can be and do better.
